Principles of MYODB
Mind Your Own Damn Business Politics is a movement away from current political parties and current thinking. We are neither Democrats nor Republicans; not liberal, conservative, nor libertarian.
Our views hold most closely to that of the Laissez-faire Liberalism: Individual freedom, limited government, human rationality, individual property rights, natural rights, civil liberties, Constitutional limitations on government, and free markets.
There are ten principles of MYODB:
- A well informed electorate strengthens the Constitution.
a. Better representation
b. Better law - The United States was founded as a refuge from all of those places over there. We started out separate and different and need to remain separate and different; not enough has improved over there for us to change.
a. America is better for Americans. Not everyone over there wants our culture. Not our problem; let them solve it. - Know what the Constitution says, and a little bit about why it says what it says (see Federalist Papers). Disagreeing with the Constitution and other U.S. law is okay, perhaps good, as long as you understand what you disagree with.
a. The Constitution can be changed. There is a cumbersome, difficult process for that change and those difficulties serve as protection. - The Constitution establishes a wall protecting the rule of law from popular will. Popular will can be good. Popular will can be very bad (see Economic crises; 1929, 2008)
- Separation of powers in the Constitution should be maintained vigorously when your party is “In power,” for the day when your party is out.
a. The Supreme Court should never concern itself with being “In Touch” with the will of the people and the House of Representatives should never be “Out of touch.” - This blog respects religious belief except where believers attempt to use the force of government or the force of popular will to cause others to adhere to religious beliefs or strictures.
- Everything has a cost. Government can only give to one group by taking resources from someone else. Therefore, be careful about taxing the other guy.
a. Example: Don’t decide that the rich person doesn’t need to buy that yacht unless you are willing to tell the people that build and maintain that yacht that they are not entitled to their jobs because the government has a better use for the rich person’s money. - Self sufficiency and personal accomplishments are good. Helping others is good when you give that help of your own free will. Using government to compel others to help with your cause is not good, no matter how good you believe your cause to be. The people you compel may have causes of their own. They certainly have needs.
- Those that disagree with your views are not necessarily bad. They might have valid ideas. Listen. You might be able to persuade them to your view but first you have to listen.
- The United States was not supposed to be run by political parties nor a political class. Our nation is run by both and the only solution is critical evaluation by the people.
a. Actions of political parties and governments should be viewed critically. Always.
The goal of this blog is provide a platform to encourage voters to seek more and better information, including information that contradicts that voter’s point of view. I know that through this blog I will evolve and refine my views as I see views that contradict my own and/or provider a broader understanding of opinions that I hold. I look forward to your comments.

Lefties, socialists, democrats, big government statists, collectivists, commies, and others such logic impaired side-show freaks need to be ignored, not catered to or compromised with when they loose power next time, as they have shown themselves to be dangerous custodians of the public trust.
In other words, I’m not interested in what selfish spoiled children want in the way of perks and goodies for themselves and their supporters. You can bet if the Lefty Libs are FOR it, it’s not in the best interest of US.
Oh my God! Intelligence.
Thank you for committing to share, what seem to be, well thought out opinions and perspectives on things that should matter to all of us. Whether we agree or disagree on individual points, I look forward to walking away with a more polished perspective of my own and to contributing when I can.
We just can’t wait…
