Natural disasters are proper role for government

The situation in Japan provides an unfortunate but valuable example of something that falls into of the proper role of government; Natural disasters.

Government, for all of it’s inefficiencies and bumbling is still the best positioned to gather resources and provide everything from ships, helicopters, people, and, God forbid it should be needed, weapons for security. I support the President’s offer of support to Japan in this disaster. It is the right thing for We the People to help, as humans and as people that share major trade relationships with Japan.

It is too bad that we have wasted so many of our resources buying votes with auto bailouts, badly planned financial rescues, and 70 plus years of wealth transfers to sap our strength. When the federal government’s intervention is properly called for, it should be able to respond without We the People having to worry about what that intervention will do to our economy.
