Desperate Obama fights Social Security modernization

This is sad. Democrats continue to block any attempt to modernize Social Security and instead use the program as a political weapon. The program was founded 75 years ago today and still basically runs the same as it did back then. Seventy five years old and President Change plays politics with efforts to modernize the system to meet our new demographic and economic realities.

The sad part; naive Americans will go for this in droves. We the People get the government we deserve.

I think they should just give it up. I’ve already determined that I will probably NEVER get to retire. They just keep raising the retirement age to take more money to fund a failed program. I just started a 401k a few months ago. I’m at the point where I’m just going to give that up too next year. It seems I will be working for the rest of my life anyway. I’m currently 26 years old and I would prefer that the government just give me my money back (I’ve roughly put about 6,000 into SS. Probably more…) and stay out of my life!

Every so often there’s an actuarial analysis estimating the unfunded liabilities of the S0c. Sec. program. I know it’s an ugly number, as this program is essentially “pay-as-you-go”, as opposed to fully accrued.
