As I write this the Georgia run-off vote between Republican gubernatorial candidates Karen Handel and Nathan Deal is too close to call. I voted for Deal because Sarah Palin endorsed Handel.
My intention was to vote for Handel because she is the less socially conservative of the two candidates, yet appears to be fiscally conservative. Then Palin entered the picture with her endorsement and appearances. I have written in the past that I have yet to see anything from Palin that would convince me that she has the intellectual and leadership qualities to lead this nation to the much higher level of self-reliance, education, and accomplishment that I believe is vital to our future.
However, Palin is running a brilliant presidential campaign. Her endorsements are winning elections which means she is building a powerful network of supporters who will help deliver the Republican nomination to her in either 2012 or 2016.
Yesterday I voted against that.

If this is TRUE this guy is an idiot.
If Deal wins,he cannot beat the Democrat.Polls show Deal will lose to the DEMOCRAT.The sane poll shows Handel will win against the Democrat. If Handel is not the winner,GA just elected a Democrat,Rubber stamp for Obama. An they deserve it,a democrat socialist.
It is true. I wrote it about me. Deal may well lose to the Democrat Barnes. Having Barnes as a governor of Georgia will truly be a loss to Georgia. His past term speaks for itself in terms of Georgia’s education, taxes, and economic problems outside of metro-Atlanta.
However, I believe that this nation is equivalent to a whitewater rafter racing toward the falls. Once we go over those falls we can not turn back. Right now we have the opportunity to not go over those falls but only if we act to drive our culture back toward the dynamics that would arise from self-reliance, accomplishment, and education. Not dependence from Democrats nor social conservatism (Palin). Not divisiveness that we see from Obama will get have again from Palin.
Want to see evidence that Palin is intellectual and capable? Here ya go –

You needed only to ask.
Stuff that the media will never touch. Trust me. Because it might (gasp!) portray Palin in a positive light. Can’t have that…
This is a very good book. I read it when it first came out; to be fair, I will dig up a copy and re-read it. My recollection is that the book describes a tough and capable public servant. Palin demonstrated an admirable ability to manage, tenacity, and the courage in the face of serious political adversity. I can think of several powerful people lacking in these skills.
However, I did not read of great vision. I did not see a superior intellect, nor did I see the kind of leadership that would enable Palin, as president, to reach out to those on the opposite side of the political spectrum and give them the encouragement needed to seek for themselves and support others in building self-reliance. I did not see a person that could inspire the kind of respect for education seen in many Asian cultures and that is so badly needed here in the U.S. I did not see anything that said that Palin could tell the world that the best way to help the “underprivileged” was to create opportunity as opposed to creating giveaways.
I will write extensively of this should I find it.
The authors are both Palin supporters… oops!
Robert S. Siegel, I submit that you sir, are an outright fraud. How do I know? The title of your article gives it away. If you had any integrity, Sarah Palin’s endorsement would not have affected your vote. You research the candidates for Governor and vote for the one that you think would do the best job for your state, period!!!! Endorsements should have little affect, although I personally have faith in Palin’s judgment. You would rather Barnes win than support a Palin–endorsed candidate? Do you usually cut off your nose to spite your face?
But in your case you don’t give a damn how competent she is. You sir, just want to get on the Palin hate-fest bandwagon. You don’t care that she’s been in politics since 1992 – as a City Council member, Mayor, Governor of Alaska, Chairwoman of the National Governors Association’s Natural Resources Committee, Chairwoman of Alaska’s Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and Chairwoman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Or that she co-owned and operated two businesses (commercial fishing, snow machine vehicles) with her husband. Obviously having much more executive experience than our President before his election, who never even met a payroll let alone have any of the aforementioned skills.
You don’t care about her accomplishments as Governor with ethics reform, energy issues or reduced government spending. You have no knowledge or care that she downplayed her social conservatism during her campaign for and as part of her Governorship of Alaska. It doesn’t matter to you that her popularity in Alaska was close to 90% which encompassed having a good working relationship across party lines with both Democrats and Republicans, that is, prior to her nomination as the Republican Vice – Presidential candidate.
You are not interested in reading about whom she is and what she believes:
– Sarah takes on Big Oil by Kay Cashman (mentioned above)
– Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin By Lorenzo Benet
– Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down by
Kaylene Johnson
– Sarah Palin The Real Deal by G. Robert James
Her own publications:
– Going Rogue: An American Life by Sarah Palin
– America by Heart : Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag by Sarah Palin
Divisiveness – her only divisiveness is media created. You can’t be that naïve buying into the media hype. The divisive one is currently in the White House.
Vision you say? I’ll give you her vision. She believes that we are the most exceptional and most powerful country for good on earth and we should keep it that way. That is, as opposed to Obama’s vision, which is one of shepherding the downfall of this country; no doubt precipitated by the reading of Fareed Zakaria’s ‘The Post-American World’.
If you don’t like Sarah Palin, you don’t like her. But don’t tell us she has influenced your vote. Stand on principle, don’t make excuses. At first I couldn’t figure it out, but now I know what political party you belong to sir. It is called the party of WIMPS.
