One of the major factors that led to the failure of the Carter presidency was his self imposed isolation during the Iran Hostage Crisis. I can’t help recalling those dismal days when I read of complaints on Drudge Report and others that First Lady Michelle Obama is on vacation in Spain while so many in the U.S. are unemployed.
The President and Mrs. Obama should not seal themselves in the White House nor in Washington DC during this crisis. It looks bad and it is bad for national moral.
Further, those of us that are angry with the Democrats constant use of wealth envy to buy votes should not complain about the First Lady’s trip to Spain. The Obamas paid the cost of her trip; her friends paid their cost. We the People paid for all of the security and the support but that is part of the price of being a major nation; our presidents and their families must be protected. As for the vacation itself, the job of president and first lady is very stressful. Give them a break. Focus on the issues; there is plenty to criticize.

My, my, my…… and who paid for the 60+ secret service people? The U.S. taxpayer will pick up a tab for approximately $375,000…. and you apologize for the left wing.socialists.. how old are you? Do you know your history.. or just concerned with bludding the truth and reality…

Are there no vacation spots here in the US suitable for them? How about all this talk about vacationing in the gulf ? Don’t worry, our government has an endless amount of money for junkets and frivolous expenditures. Remember this: All government spending is from taxation. Delaying through debt only delays the taxation. Who will pay?
The Obama’s would like to posture themselves after the Roosevelts. However, eating a full meal, a basic necessity, and showing it to the people of the US, is a far cry compared to the detached tax-and-spend excess of the last of the French monarchy and Marie-Antoinette’s famous words, or taking expensive jaunts around the world regardless of who supposedly paid. Because in the end, it doesn’t matter who paid, merely that excess that could have been put to better use. Lastly, I’m sorry, what are the duties of the First Lady, that aren’t self-imposed?
i didn’t vote for obama. once elected i have defended him. that is what we are supposed to do.

very poor choice. sitting here shaking my head and thinking that money could have SO better been spent here in some stateside getaway. there ARE place here that could have been just as restful and relaxing and all her retinue could have joined her.

Sasha toured the stunning Alhambra Palace as part of their visit to Granada. Beautiful pictures but not seeing Mrs. Obama smile in many and she’s looking very serious on vacation ? For $250,000 dollars worth of tax dollars, smile and have a good time.” Mrs Obama is a private citizen ?” Have a great summer but gees ,peas Louise and 8 vacations ? The US is in the worst recession since the Great Depression and thank-you for paying you’re own personal expenses.
Sasha looked like she was having a great time and she’ll have lots of cool and interesting pictures for her classmates. A neat trip with mom for her. How do you bail Mrs Obama out of this one ? Put her on a riding lawn mower and mow the White House lawn ? Maybe a picture with Bo by the dog House ? How many homes in America in foreclosure.
