Campbell Brown great journalism in Sherrod case

Did you see CNN’s Campbell Brown interview NAACP vice president Hilary Shelton last night?  If not, take a look at this clip.  Brown refused to let Shelton simply dodge the organization’s failure to critically evaluate Sherrod’s case before denouncing her.

We the People need more of this kind of journalism.  Is Brown still planning to leave CNN?  I hope not.

Note: I respect the NAACP’s ‘no tolerance’ for racism of any kind.  They are correct in this view assuming they make certain that what they are showing no tolerance for is indeed racism.

The challenge for the NAACP going into the future is to recognize that African Americans and whites will have political differences of opinion that arise naturally from our varying cultural backgrounds, individual personalities, education, vocation…..etc., etc., and more etcs.  This list could go on because in the end, We the People are merely people.

Can the NAACP (and all African Americans, and whites) understand that differences of political opinion do not constitute racism?

Further note: It occurs to me that had the players acted properly in this case and instead of firing and denouncing Sherrod they had launched “thorough investigations” this issue would have lingered in the background of the news instead of exploding as it did. Sherrod’s reputation would have suffered whereas now she will be okay.  Such is the state of our culture and the media that feeds it.

New Question: How will Obama manage to blame Bush for the Shirley Sherrod mess?

I thought Campbell Brown did awesome covering the Sherrod case! She was the first person I saw expressing the appropriate amount of criticism, tough questioning, and outrage. CNN should keep her; they are losing a good journalist.

New Question: How will Obama manage to blame Bush for the Shirley Sherrod mess?

Wrong question. Question now is, how will conservatives who still believe idiotic claptrap like “the NAACP is the racist” continue to blame the Blacks for what happened to Shirley Sherrod.

How tenaciously will they cling to their false belief in white victimhood at the hands of Black people?

I will miss Campbell Brown. She is an excellent journalist and presents as a very compassionate person. I have watched both Fox and MSNBC at the same time spot, and would consider her honest, resourceful, and nonideological. I hope she will find a spot which makes use of her persona. I have nothing against Rick Sanchez but think he does not project as she does. Good luck, Campbell. I hope you were not driven out.

Or perhaps the real question should be:
How long are left-wing and right-wing nuts going to use diversionary tactics including race-baiting to prevent actual critical discussion of and solutions to the important issues facing the United States and world? This case had nothing to do with race and everything to do with dirty election politics. The right wing nutjobs (not saying all people on the right are nutjobs, just some of them — I consider myself to be rationally right) that edited this tape to cause a *(%$storm are malicious slanderers and similarly I have no respect for the gutless NAACP / Obama Administration idiots who couldn’t even bother to find out the story before completely overreacting. So yes, good job Campbell Brown for holding these people to task a bit.

Campbell was an AWESOME journolist, and I am so sad that CNN let her walk out like that.

Campbell Brown should take over when Larry King finally leaves. She is a great interviewer and objective one for that matter.
