The Democrats under Obama have taken the lead in the Great Pandering Race; the race to be the best at doing the least to secure the U.S. Mexican border. It is bidding for the future votes of Hispanic/Latino voters who, unlike most other voter segments, haven’t married themselves to either the Democratic or Republican Party.
The U.S. Department of Justice has filed suit against Arizona over its immigration law requiring police to….. follow the law.
This is a colossal waste of time and resources.
Folks, the drug based violence along the border is soaring as we effectively cede control of parts of Arizona to drug cartels. Meanwhile, we lose time in a much more significant race; the race to win the workers to drive our economy in 2030 and beyond.
Have you read The House of the Scorpion? It is a brilliant novel (high school summer reading material that is very appropriate for adults) about the bizarre world in a region of the south western U.S. and northern Mexico surrendered to drug lords. Frightening concept more for its believability than anything else.
Have you read The Next 100 Years? This 100 year forecast for the U.S. and the world by Stratfor’s George Friedman explains that we need those anchor babies and those immigrants and their children. Our population and that of Europe is ageing and we need workers. Competition for labor will heat up in the coming years and Mexico will be a prime source for U.S. labor. If we have the intelligence to pursue that labor.
My point is; the U.S. needs intelligent border security and immigration reform. Now. We wasted the Bush years, though Bush tried, and now Obama wants to Change the situation by applying ever more political nonsense as opposed to clear solutions.
Drop the lawsuit against Arizona. Secure the border. Fix immigration. Time for Obama to do his job.

“The House of the Scorpion”, Is Science Fiction.
But this is Real:

And a very serious problem.
I agree, Drop the lawsuit against Arizona. Secure the border. Fix immigration. Time for Obama to do his job.
07-07-2010 Breaking AP Immigration News:
PHOENIX — On paper, Arizona’s controversial new immigration law is not that different from the federal version. But the key difference is this: Arizona wants every illegal immigrant caught and deported….
The federal lawsuit focuses on a core constitutional concern — balancing power between the states and the federal government. More specifically, the issue centers on the long-running “pre-emption” legal argument that says federal law trumps state law.
The government sidestepped concerns about the potential for racial profiling and civil rights violations most often raised by immigration advocates. Experts said those are weaker arguments that do not belong in a federal legal challenge.
Need more proof of Obama admin / legislation posturing?
The MSM (main sewer media) has focused almost exclusively on the racial profiling and civil rights violations for weeks. As have those opposed to AZ’s new law – and the Obama administration has silently let them. BUT NOW the fed gov “experts” finally come out and say those arguments are so WEAK they won’t hold up to scrutiny.
This is about the Obama administration log rolling the issue until AFTER November and pandering to La Raza & other minority interest groups – nothing more!
This administration is in disregard for the basic safety of American citizens and their rights. Those who oppose AZs immigration laws (of all races, colors, creeds) are either ILLEGALS or in support of lawlessness within the USA.
You can expect the beltway inept & corrupt to:
A) Spend your tax dollars fighting AZ and proposing to do nothing serious at all about the illegals in this country OR the murder and mayhem on our borders.
B) Angle for a way to appease illegals so they will vote early and often come November.
C) Ignore their constitutional duty to secure our borders by pressing for “real reform” (which translates to total amnesty) before they take action to secure the USA.
Demand action NOW to control our borders! Support Arizona and states who are considering / drafting their own immigration laws because the Federal Government has FAILED to do its duty to the American people.
I agree we should secure the border, but wouldn’t it be better for the police in Arizona to enforce the drug laws and combat smuggling than worrying about being sued for not trying to deport otherwise law abiding illegal immigrants? The posturing did not start with the Obama administration. The anti-immigration people who refuse to give any consideration to a way of letting these people become legal are posturing as well, since we can’t possibly deport 11 million people without doing serious damage to our economy, or, at all, really. It seems to me that both sides would rather have the issue at campaign time than solve the problem.
