The U.S. border with Mexico is out of control, leading Arizona’s governor to sign what supporters and opponents alike consider the nation’s toughest legislation against illegal immigration. President Obama is partially right in stating that “Our failure to act responsibly at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others.”
The failure to act at the federal level by Congress and Presidents Bush and Obama (Bush proposed comprehensive immigration reform) has forced Arizona to act RESPONSIBLY.
Immigration and border security is, without question, the role of the Federal government. But the Feds continue to avoid responsibility for fear of losing votes in future elections. Arizona and other border states are left with the choice of either acting in the Feds absence or dealing with mess of the Feds failure. Both are bad options.
President Bush and Congress failed to address the problem and now President Obama and Congress have wasted more than a year interfering with the private sector, leaving little time for their primary responsibilities, including immigration reform.
Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration legislation should never have had to be considered, certainly not approved. Congress, Pelosi, Reid, and President Obama, do your job!

EXCELLENT ARTICEL!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GOVERNOR OF ARIZONA! WE THE CITIZENS HAVE TO BE PROTECTED. OUR RIGHTS AS CITIZENS HAVE TO COME FIRST.
I agree–this is one of those situations where legislators on both sides seem to prefer having the issue to taking action that would actually help the problem. Taking employers to task for hiring undocumented workers and providing ways for employers to have a reasonable number of foreign workers doesn’t seem to be such a difficult idea. But until this is done, nothing (at least nothing we can afford) along the border is going to work. In Arizona, though, the part of the bill that’s worrisome is that any law enforcement agency can be sued for not enforcing the law. Isn’t that too much state interference with local governance? Som sherrif’s office can be sued for not enforcing immigration rules, but not for murder or robbery. Could there be an unintended consequence that property or even violent crime enforcement could be affected?
The deportation of illegal immigrants would close down thousands of fruit stands, restaurants, and construction companies in NYC alone. It would hurt poor retired Americans most. They could not afford to pay the added costs of minimum wage workers.
you people are out of your mind this is shades of 1930′s hilter and your all for it bunch of white bread racists
I think Seth Myers had a good point. People have been comparing Obama to Hitler, but there’s nothing that he’s done that recalls fascism quite so much as going around asking people for their papers.
