Thoughts on Tea Partiers, crashers, and Republicans

  • The Tea Party crashers are a sad and desperate bunch.  And by the way, their very existence will now create legitimate doubts about the validity of any future incident, real or imagined, at Tea Party events.
  • The Tea Partiers are not the paranoid racists the left hoped they would be.  They really are mostly regular folks.
  • I saw some Republicans protesting against the Tea party (6:15) or maybe they were crashers, trying to make the point that the Tea Partiers do not represent Republicans.  I am not a part of the Tea Party (yet) but I thought that was part of the point of most of the Tea Partiers want to make though they may not always say it – they oppose the Democrats, and the Republicans aren’t doing what they want either.  I hope the Partiers will not allow themselves to be co-opted by Republicans and I hope that if they begin to offer candidates for elections they avoid established Republicans.
  • If the movement evolves beyond protests to put up a candidate they need to do better than Sarah Palin.  Nice person but not a deep thinking candidate.  America needs a candidate with Gingrich’s intelligence, Bill Clinton’s magnetism, and Reagan’s ability to frame an issue.  Once all of that is in place you can add a touch of Sarah Palin’s grounding in the real world, but not without the foundation.  I am not sure if that person exists.
  • Critics like to charge that the Tea Party does not have specific stances on issues; they are just opposed to government and taxes.  The lack of specific stances is changing as the Partiers offer up a Contract From America.  It needs specifics, but it is just a start.  Grassroots movements take time and though this movement has certainly received help it is at its core a grassroots movement.
  • As for opposition to government and taxes, the Partiers appear to be opposed to big government and high taxes – the difference is enormously significant.

Finally I could read something that make sense, This Tea Party & Palin all seems very blindly opposing the government. Amazing to know how easily people get persuaded by this movement.
Thank you for voicing that make sense to simple mind.

Attended my local tea party last night( organized by a local”housewife”).a few hundred Middle aged and senior folks, vets, current military and leo.Plenty ofpolice and private security and video cameras on hand to handle any “crashers”. No incidents,a full dais of credentialed speakers.I just don’t get the vitriole and venom spewing from “other” Americans.

Guy called our local talk radio yesterday asking for the “name calling” to end.:(i.e.” socialist/communist)I couldn’t get to the phone fast enough to add” Okay how about “teabagger” a repulsive term coined by leftist hollywood ( Jenene Garafalo iirc).

As for the”crashers:”Just where the hell do you people think you get the rights to stifle my right to assemble? If conservatives shutdown gay and lesbian rallies, it would be wrong.
But college educated “intellectuals” can take it on themselves to decide who gets to gather for what reason.???

Thank you for addressing the issue of the Tea Party crashers. Not many mainstream media outlets have discussed these crashers yet (besides Fox News but no surprise there). I am not a member of the Tea Party movement either but I think it is extraordinary what these people have done. They are from both sides of the political aisle and have gotten average citizens who could care less about politics involved. It’s a shame that Democrats have to sink to such low levels to ask their liberal voters to pose as Tea Party members and make racist or crude signs to portray the Tea Party movement in a negative light. It only shows how desperate the Democrats are becoming as the November election fast approaches. I also agree that Sarah Palin is not the right candidate. She is great woman but she’s not ready for the White House. In a few years and maybe a Congressional seat later, possibly. To the Tea Party members, like Mr. Lepisko, I say keep up the good work. Don’t back down. As I said before, what you have accomplished is amazing and your efforts will show in November. To those who consider the Tea Party to be “crazy” or “racist” and continue to crash this movement, shame on you. You are what is wrong with this country and you should be embarrased for what you have done. Instead of portraying the Tea Party in a negative light, why not trying to portray your own side in a positive light. Oh wait, that’s right, there is no way to do that.

I followed the links all the way to try to find out for myself about these party crashers. All I saw was a place to buy a T-Shirt. It’s a stupid and reprehensible idea, but I wonder if it’s actually being done, and certainly how big a factor it is likely to be–except of course it’s a convenient way to dismiss any inappropriate behavior from within the Tea Party movement, but that’s already accomplished. They’re just so angry, you see, it’s all the Democrats’ fault for making them so angry by winning the election and doing what they said they were going to.
