If you go to the website of the International Olympic Committee you will find that the “Ultimate goal of Olympism is: Build a peaceful and better world through sport.”

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and no doubt Vladmir Putin, clearly missed the part about a “better world.” They have no Olympic spirit.

According to CNN Medvedev is more than a tad miffed about the performance of Russian athletes. “Medvedev called for the resignation of the nation’s top Olympic officials Monday after the country’s worst performance in a Winter Olympics in nearly a hundred years,” CNN said. This was not some off the cuff comment; he spoke on state television from his residence outside Moscow.

Sounds like there are still remnents of the old Soviet Union running around in Russia.
