Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and bungled decisions

by Robert S. Siegel on January 29, 2010

The Obama administration is correct in seeking a new venue for the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind.  The use of New York City was too expensive and dangerous. I am not going to criticize the decision to change venues.  The decision worthy of criticism was the decision to put the trial in Manhattan in the first place.

The Khalid Sheikh Mohammed trial was just one more example of this administration’s failure to think decisions through to understand their full impact.  It is a failure of a president that has insulated himself with yes men and supporters, and thus fails to anticipate his opposition and fails to see the downside of his actions.  Sounds a lot like Bush, doesn’t it?

This is trial is now one more chapter in a series of bungled decisions that so far define the Obama presidency; the bank bonuses, GM bailout, cash for clunkers, talks with Iran, Guantanamo, Afghan policy, the stimulus plan, health care and the horse trading, and this list could probably go on longer.  Each one a mess.

Mr. President:  You need to think through your decisions before you announce them.  To do justice to your thinking, you should get some critics on your staff or at least among the friends that have access to you.

I Hope to see this Change soon. You can do better than this.

Presidents of yesteryear had “kitchen cabinets” that truly 1st met in the kitchen where they had a glass or two of their favorite beverage and discussed frankly and fully their concerns. There might be a close advisor or two but mostly it wasmen who knew the pulse of Washington and of the electorate so the two would mesh. The discussions were mostly about policy, local, national, and international. These discussion allowed the president to hear unfiltered opinionsa and facts.

You can hope for change all you want from Obama….. he and his ilk are like fish in water …been all wet so long they don’t even realize it..

That pesky leftist ideology boxing him in so he can NEVER make the right decision for the good of the country. Always basing decisions on what the loony left base would want….

He got a big wake up call on the 19th in Mass….But he seems to have put the voice of the people on hold…..

Come on Mr Prez, I know you can’t do better….
