Haitian relief success story – Israel

One nation, smaller in population than Haiti, frequently ostracized by the same United Nations that is currently performing so poorly in the disaster relief effort, is succeeding in aiding Haitians. Israel.

MSNBC reports that within 48 hours of last week’s quake two 747s arrived from Israel with supplies and personnel. “Not hindered by roadblocks; not reliant on outside aide.” MSNBC correspondent Dr. Nancy Sniderman calls Israel’s response, “The model for medical disaster response.”

We’ve heard a lot these past few weeks about what we can learn from Israel about airport security. Now we are learning from Israel about medical disaster response, and something far more important: This nation Israel, this light unto the nations, is showing the nations what it means to be humanitarians.
