What can a person who writes a blog called Mind Your Own Damn Business Politics say to properly honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King? Were Dr. King alive today would he appreciate the Principles of Mind Your Damn Business Politics? Or would he prefer the increased government involvement in our economic and personal lives? It’s impossible to know. There has been, and there will be today, plenty written about what Martin Luther King would think had he lived. Everything from King would have fought coal plants to President Obama’s election and myriad other issues. Unfortunately, it is impossible to know for sure what he would have thought of any of this (despite what these writers claim), and that is a loss for the U.S. and the world.
I have to wonder when I think of this man who encouraged his followers to stand up for themselves and to help others what he would think of a nation that continues to steal from its children’s future. I wonder what he would think of a political class that buys votes in the guise of helping others and jumps on opponent’s every utterance related to race as though it were a major and horrendous statement. I have to wonder what would have been had he lived. Perhaps the national discussion on race that so many Americans believe is needed would have taken place and we would be past all of that. Perhaps today’s leaders would have learned something from Dr. King’s courage.
Perhaps he did so much in his life time that my questions about what he would think are wrong and we should all leave him alone to rest in peace.
Rest in peace.

Had Dr. King lived, ( me and Jesse was there to help him after the assassination ), he would have ended up corrupted just like us. And in maryrdom, has served the cause better then had he lived.
When Dr. King realized how easy it is to make guilty white people pay and pay for their racist past ad infinitum…. he would have wanted in on that gravy train.
I mean who wouldn’t. No matter what we do or say, no matter how ridiculous, we get cover from the guilty white peoples in the MainStreamMedia.
Dr. King was naive. If you want to get ahead in this racist country, you gots to hit them where it hurts, first in the wallet. Then keep hammering the “original sin” theme mercilessly, so we can continue to be gainfully employed race hustlers….
