The Democrats health care bill may be coming up for a vote Saturday in the House. If it is defeated, Republicans should jump on the opportunity to replace the Democrat’s bill with sensible legislation that is designed to fix the myriad problems that are U.S. health care.

The Democrats have shown they’re not interested in a quality, long term fix for health care, as evidenced by the legislation they have crafted. Can the Republicans do better? They have offered a bill that is an improvement over the Democrat’s bills but still needs work.

The Republican’s bill also needs the benefit of a major educational push. Americans of both parties need to understand that our health care system is seriously lacking, that even the well insured risk losing their insurance, their wealth, and their health because of the mess. Americans need to understand that high taxes combined with encouraging participation without contributing is dilutive on health care and our children’s economic future.

The problem is that if American’s understand the problems of health care, neither party’s solutions may be adequate. The problems are beyond the power of the political parties.
