I repeatedly find reasons to shout out to environmentalists, “Where are you?” when they seem oblivious to opportunities. Here is the latest reason to shout.
The New York Times reported Saturday that Jay Leno has a segment on his new show called, Green Car Challenge, where celebrities will compete for fastest times driving an electric Ford Focus.
I am a huge fan of electric cars and as a result have written a number of pieces on this very exciting opportunity:
• High efficiency car lanes high electric and Smart cars?
• Electric dragster beats gas dragster yet Congress still focuses on Cap and Trade!
• Capitalism – Environmentalist’s Tool!
• GM’s Chevy Volt challenges environmentalists
• Forget Cash for Clunkers, bring on electric cars
Electric cars are the capitalist’s answer to everything related to oil, from national security to carbon to air pollution. Electric cars promise a brighter future with a dynamic economy for the U.S. and the world, all while taking money away from terrorist sponsoring oil nations and helping the environment. No Cap and Trade program has even a faint hope of doing what electric cars can do.
But electric cars need to become cool.
So now, we have Jay Leno, car enthusiast. Celebrity. “We will be asking guests to set a time round a track in the NBC parking lot in an electric Ford Focus and seeing who the fastest green celebrity is,” he said. “Being a green car, celebrities can save the world and race at the same time.”
Awesome Jay!
Now I have a couple of questions; why aren’t environmentalists inundating the nation with support for Leno and pledges to watch his show? Further, can we have a dealer on hand to sell these celebrities an electric car so that we can begin building excitement for these cars?
