Green Jobs Czar Van Jones resigns. Obama needs critics in inner circle – Fast!

by Robert S. Siegel on September 6, 2009

I am very glad to see that Green Jobs Czar Van Jones has resigned. I wrote last week that this appointment did tremendous damage to President Obama’s credibility. That Van Jones was ever able to get past screeners is further evidence that this administration either lacks competence or is loaded with people that only know how to say “yes” to the President.

President Obama was elected President of the United States of America, not just the Democratic party. I believe that he understands that. I believe the people around him missed that point.

This President has surrounded himself with people that share his views. There are no real critics in his inner circle. Please remember that former President George W. Bush was highly criticized for his failure to get opposing views. It is time for President Obama to get the same criticism for the same failure. Without that we are going to have more Van Jones appointments, town hall summers, and school speech debacles. It is the President who needs to change.

The fact the made such a despicable choice to begin with shows me his lack of any real decision making. I wouldn’t need an ‘inner circle’ of advisors to see what a blatant mistake that was.
