Electric dragster beats gas dragster yet Congress still focuses on Cap and Trade!

Electric dragsters are beating their gas powered opponents! This story should be the headline at every news outlet that supports the green agenda or national security.

It’s not.

The story sounds like someone with an agenda made it up but it is true. Unfortunately, according to NPR, the electric car owners lack the money and sponsors to build even faster cars. I hope that this is a temporary issue and that with some additional promotion green sponsors will line up to support them.

As any racing fan will tell you, the technology developed on the race track finds its way into the automobile showrooms relatively fast. That is one of the big reasons companies in the automotive industry sponsor race cars.

Electric cars can be the future of transportation in this country.

In the meantime, where are the wealthy so-called environmentalists like Ted Turner and George Soros? How about the Hollywood crowd that is always happy to turn out for a fundraiser?

Soon after Congress returns from their recess they are going to take up their giant ponzi scheme / fundraising scam called Cap & Trade. This bureaucratic mess is designed to put a price on carbon emissions and then allow businesses to trade in carbon credits. This is allegedly a free market solution.

Meanwhile, 880 businesses and groups have reported that they are interested in influencing climate change policy, according to a report by the Center for Public Integrity. The report left me believing that Cap & Trade lobbying is a hot business (pun intended).

Which path do you think will lead to a better world; government bureaucracy or fun to drive, cost-efficient electric cars designed from innovations at the race track?

Are we serious about our environment or is the entire global warming movement really what critics say; just a front for gaining political power. Because if the environmental movement is serious these drag racers would be rolling in the green they need to innovate for green.

Update: Wouldn’t it be great if President Obama paid a visit to a race featuring electric cars and brought the Washington press corps with him? There is an event this weekend in Hagerstown, Maryland which is accessible from the Washington DC area, and Martha’s Vineyard.

Mr. President? News media?

Details below from NEDRA and at this link

We are arriving at Hagerstown this evening for an EV show at the Comfort Suites (1801 Dual Highway) Parking lot. We are expecting 3 Teslas there and some other cool EVs. We’ve set up a tent in the back parking lot for people to meet and greet and see EVs.

Saturday is an EV and Hybrid slalom course being set up by the Washington DC SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown. (Macy’s parking lot). Starting at 10:00 am. If you have a Prius or other hybrid you can race.

Sunday is our EV drag racing event at Mason Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown starting at noon. We expect the Teslas to be racing.

We are also having an EV conference at the event featuring speakers who are experts in Vehicle to Grid Charging and Plug-in Hybrids. The conference will be held in the Valley Mall during the same time as the AutoCross. The Valley Mall has allowed us to use their vacated Disney Store to hold the meetings.

Saturday night we have an EV reception at the Golden Coral right behind where the AutoCross event was.

So we have lots going on and several EVs to see.

Folks, this article is an unpaid endorsement because I believe that free markets will do more to solve our environmental problems than all the regulations a policy wonk could ever dream of creating. I know nothing more about the National Electric Drag Racing Association than what I heard about on NPR, but if you want more information, it is here. I encourage you to take a look.

The electric car can kill the internal combustion car in acceleration and environmental footprint, but that’s it. And where it can’t beat the IC car (range, refuelability, versatility, and for the time being reliability) it gets crushed. But I believe the tide is starting to turn. We will be moving electrically soon.

It should be noted, though, that while I think cap and trade is more likely to produce scams the benefits, it does address more than just transportation generated pollution.

COMMON SENSE ALERT! The Obama Administration is not able to process this article. In order to be considered by this administration as containing informative information, the high level of common sense must be reduced to a DLZ (Democratic Level of Zero).

It’s a kick, isn’t it? What ever happened to “race on sunday, sell on monday”? ElectroMotorSports of Oakland, CA comes in first at Isle of Man open class, this is for EV motorcycles currently in production, and not one toot in the media about the first U.S. team to win at Isle of Man TTXGP and, locally, for being a home-grown company in the midst of post-industrial Oakland! All the NEDRA racers would put sponsorship to good use. Power of DC, the EVent this weekend, should have D.C. “leadership” show up.. With EV dragsters, they can still chatter away in front of the cameras and not be blasted out by the rev of gas engines!!!
You’d think the media and money folk would LOVE the way tey start a race, ” Gentlemen, engage your contactors!”
