Health care card in every wallet and a Government Motors car in every garage

House Democratic leaders unveiled their healthcare bill Tuesday. The Congressional Budget Office said the plan would cost more than $1 trillion over 10 years.

The surtax that will pay for about half the cost will only affect 1.2% of all U.S. households, so that is obviously fine, according to a summary of the bill provided by House Democrats.

It is more than fine, in fact, it is great! We the People should be entitled to share their wealth.

Of course the tax on those folks, the 1.2%, could go up after 2013, if the federal government doesn’t realize certain savings on Medicare and Medicaid. I am sure the government will do a great job getting the cost of those programs down and if they don’t succeed we can always bump up that surtax on only 1.2% of U.S. households just a teeny bit. I have no problem with that. It’s just 1.2% and most important, it’s not me.

That tax on 1.2% of household is so great that maybe we ought to do more things like it. The 1.2% of U.S. households have more money than the rest of us. I think we are entitled to vote ourselves more of their money.

The feds are already going to help us all buy new cars through the Cash for Clunkers program so we have a good start. Let’s tax that 1.2% of U.S. households to pay for a free car program. Most of us need cars to get to work, the grocery store, and of course to the doctor’s office so we can use that government supplied healthcare. The government now owns GM, so I think We the People are entitled to free cars. It’s not like Government Motors deserves to make a profit!

The real plus of this idea is that the more cars GM gives away, the more workers they will have to hire. Plus, we can save all those dealerships that have to close by using them to distribute the free cars. And, free cars will help the unemployed get to where the jobs are, thus the moment they get a free car they become more employable. The government Free Car program will turn our unemployment problem around far faster than the stimulus package.

We can cut costs to help that 1.2% of U.S. households pay for the program by eliminating Cap and Trade. We won’t need Cap and Trade because all GM cars will be ultra green. President Obama has said that we can have jobs and fight global warming, and now I am proposing a plan to help do just that.

Of course, even though the GM cars will be green, they will still need some gas. Since the green cars will make the environment healthier, it only makes sense that we charge our gas on our healthcare cards. This way the government can keep track of the benefits of the program and pay for our gas with one neat, easy to manage program.

Now please note; to make this program fair to everyone, we are going to have to give something ourselves. It seems only right that GM dealers should do the maintenance on all of the cars they give away. This way, they’ll have to hire lots of people, probably from those other repair shops and dealers that can’t give away free service paid for by the 1.2% of U.S. households. I think that in exchange for accepting a free car we need to agree to have our cars serviced by a GM dealer. It’s only fair.

We are going to really get a lot out of that wonderful 1.2% of all U.S. households! We need to remember to thank them for performing their patriotic duty so well!

In my next post: Several new studies show how music improves listener’s morale, and therefore improves listener’s health. Hey Congress! We the People need IPods! The boost in morale and health will cut healthcare costs. Please make sure those free IPods come with at least 1,000 free downloads, a case, and…

You can either Lease or buy a new car to use the cash for clunkers program. It has to be new vehicles and not used ones.
