Blogging leads to peace?

by Robert S. Siegel on July 6, 2009

Okay, I am bit too enthusiastic with that headline, but I am highly encouraged by the findings from a recent Harvard University study showing that 19% of bloggers from the Arab world openly oppose terrorism while only 1% openly support it.

I have no doubt that even 1% support of terrorism is extremely dangerous considering the reach of the internet and the power of the weapons available to terrorists. However, the study reveals that bloggers spend more time criticizing their leaders than supporting terrorism, or criticizing the U.S. and Israel.

It’s not peace but it might be progress. Go bloggers!
