There is a way to pay for healthcare that will neither burden our children nor force us into healthcare rationing.
Stop taxes on everything healthcare related. Everything. Stop taxes on doctors and nurses salaries, medical research, and drug manufacturing from the components of a drug to the plant and equipment used to make the drugs. The eliminated taxes need to include the textbooks and supplies med students buy, the hourly wages of construction workers building clinics, to the shipping costs of drugs and medical equipment. Create a Congressional committee with the sole (for this, perhaps it is soul?) responsibility of searching out and destroying healthcare related taxes.
To tax healthcare in any way is an act that is repulsive to humanity.
This plan will:
• Place individual healthcare plans more on par with employer provided plans making it easier for people to provide their own health insurance.
• Reduce healthcare costs – think of the amount saved by removing Federal income tax burden from doctors, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, factory workers, etc.
• Remove costs from all businesses that provide employee’s health insurance;
• Spur the economy by removing the tax burdens of providing health insurance and paying for healthcare.
• Leave healthcare in the hands of the patient and the doctor of their choosing.
