bY LETTING ONLY THOSE WHO CAN QUALIFY FOR ANOTHER LOAN AT THIS TIME MAKING THE ECONOMY EVEN MORE DEPENDANT ON BANK LOANS AND EXTENDED DEBT S TO PAY OFF. WE ARE ACTIVATING THE ECONOMY LIKE A CHILD WITH A SERIOUS INJURY MISSDIAGNOSED AS A MINOR INJURY WE ARE TREATING THE VISUALLY BAD SITE OF INJURY AND NOT LOOKING UNDER THE SURFACE AT THE CAUSES WITH AN EYE TO CREATIVE LONG TERM POSITIVE FIXES TO THE REALITIES WE MUST ALL FACE. SMALLER ELEC TRIC CARS WITH A DIFFERENT YET TO BE CREATED LONGER LASTING BATTERY PAK WITH LONGER RANGE FOR CURRENTLY LIMITED RANGE ELECTRIC CARS . IF THEY WOULD SPEND 1-2-3-MAYBE EVEN 5 TRILLION DOLLARS ON A FIELD A OF SOLAR PANELS TO COLLECT ENERGY NOW WITH SOLAR PANELS THAT CAN BE SET UP NOW OR SOLAR TURBINE GENERATORS THAT HAVE A HIGHER OUTPUT OF ELECTRICITY. MAKING THIS MONEY AVAILABLE TO ONLY THOSE IN AMERICAN THAT CAN (THEY THINK) TAKE ON MORE PERSONNEL DEBT IS A RUSSIAN ROULET GAME WE ARE ALL PLAYING KNOWING WE COULD DIE BUT THE ODDS ARE IN OUR FAVOR AS WE ENTER THE GAME SO WE DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT TILL ITS TOO LATE

Somehow, the minimum standard for the new car purchase at 22 mpg (i haven’t read the bill, so i’ll assume Joe is correct) doesn’t fly in the face of the new CAFE standards Obama just endorsed. It appears to be yet another gift steered towards the US auto industry. If the minimum was set higher, foreign manufacturers who already have a leg up on Detroit regarding average mileage would appear to have a better advantage in new car sales; there’s a reason why the mpg was set lower.

It really pisses me off that this is the second auto industry tax break benefit in 5 months of office, on top of the bailouts of GM and Chrysler. (Costs to keep increasing as we go on). When Obama took over GM, there were many conflict of interest issues that were put into play. Somehow, this doesn’t pass the sniff test. And it was also embedded within the war funding bill, as another weasely move.

On a larger scale, this entire concept of giving tax breaks geared towards one industry doesn’t help the average consumer balancing big ticket spending items – e.g., new roof on the house, or the people in those service industries. But hey…WTF do I know…this is change you can believe in.

Even if you agree with the concept, the bill is flawed. Your give-up car must be rated at 18 mpg or less to qualify. Then, the new car must achieve 22 mpg 0r better for you to receive $3500. That would be a 4 mpg net gain. However, if you wanted to give-up a car rated at 19 mpg and get one rated 25 mpg (a net gain of 6 mpg) you”re out of luck. You get nothing. Totally illogical.
