I have to admire Congressman Barney Frank. He must have a gift for persuasion and negotiation skills. ABC News of Newport RI reports that Frank was able to issue a statement this week announcing that he had convinced GM CEO Fritz Henderson to reconsider closing a parts distribution center. GM announced earlier in the week that the plant that employs 80 people in Norton, Massachusetts would be closed. GM called Frank Thursday to tell him they now plan to keep the plant open for an additional 14 months.
How was Frank able to convince GM to keep the plant open? We know that Congress is not going to use undue influence on GM now that they have a controlling interest in the company. After all, it was none other than President Obama that said, They (GM) — and not the government — will call the shots and make the decisions about how…..
So how did Frank do it? Like I said, he must have a gift for the art of persuasion.
The UAW has announced that it is very appreciative of Frank’s help, according to blogger Doug Ross.
Congratulations Congressman Frank!
