The nomination battle begins and so does the silliness. From both sides of the aisle. President Obama’s nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court guarantees a nasty fight. Her background and previous rulings suggest a justice with a solidly liberal leaning. Democrats will fight hard for her and Republicans will fight hard against her.
This blog will fight to encourage Americans to demand the truth and complete information regarding Sotomayor. Unless we fight for the complete information we can expect to see little more than spin on Sotomayor from both Democrats and Republicans.
This is the time for Americans to demand our elected officials rise above the political nonsense. Further, We The People need to be well informed on Sotomayor, and we need to use that information to inform Senators of our wishes.
My suggestion is that we ask ourselves one of two questions about everything that we read and see regarding Sotomayor:
- Is that information we are getting relevant to her ability as a justice or should that reporter/pundit/politician/lobbyist have Minded His Own Damn Business?
- Do I have all the facts regarding this past decision by Sotomayor, or has the reporter/pundit/politician/lobbyist selectively presented information to make a particular point?
I pledge to do my best to look at Sotomayor without political bias. I pledge to help my readers do the same.
