Neither Republicans nor Democrats Deserve Support

Several Democratic friends that are regular readers of this blog have asked me when and how I became a Republican. Before I launched the blog just three weeks ago they thought that I was a nice guy! The funny part of this story is that a roughly equal number of Republican friends were shocked in reading this blog to find that I had become a Democrat.

I am neither. The major political parties have failed to win my support.

I encourage friends and readers in both parties to read the Principles of Mind Your Own Damn Business Politics where I explain that, Mind Your Own Damn Business Politics is a movement away from current political parties and current thinking. We are neither Democrats nor Republicans; not liberal, conservative, nor libertarian.

Our views hold most closely to that of the Laissez-faire Liberalism: Individual freedom, limited government, human rationality, individual property rights, natural rights, civil liberties, Constitutional limitations on government, and free markets.

Some of you will no doubt respond that being independent of the parties is ineffective. Nothing could be further from the truth. My vote is available to any candidate of any party that is an honest and decent human being and believes, without resorting to wiggle words, in the ten Mind Your Own Damn Business Politics Principles.

Winning our vote should be easy.

Kindly do not associate libertarian/limited government views with liberalism in any manner, shape or form.

Yes, there was a time back in the 1970s when liberals were pretty decent on issues like marijuana legalization. But that time is long past. They’ve become Modern Day Fascists; Nanny-Staters wanting to regulate every aspect of our lives, from our health choices, to where and when we can smoke, to what kind of cars we can drive.

What you attempting to describe is libertarian philosophy. And these days, we libertarians find ourselves on the exact polar opposite of everything liberal. So, please don’t try to mesh the two.

Liberals are now enemies of Liberty, in every manner, shape and form.

It’s funny….when I go back North to visit family, they’re absolutely shocked that I’m not an up and down the the line Democrat, as I moved away from that philosophy. And it’s difficult to embrace the Republican philosophy also, although I do believe many of their ideas are what I like.

What’s troublesome to me is that the Dems control the White House and Congress since 2006 (so yes, Obama was a part of the problem he inherited). It just feels like there’s no checks and balances happening, and the media just doesn’t get it. It just scares the shit out of me.

On a different note, when Eric mentions the marijuana legalization, all I hear are 20-30 year-old arguments for it,,,,and very little, if no, mention of how to take care of the huge criminal element behind drug distribution and importation of drugs into this country.

The loss of signifcant two parties – they’re both dedicated more to buying their reelection than to honest legislating, (http://mindyourowndamnbusinesspolitics.com/wordpress/2009/05/10/let%e2%80%99s-rename-pork-spending-and-earmarks-buy-my-reelection-bmr/), along with the pending loss of the tiny bit of scrutiny the filibuster provided leaves government completely unchecked. And as for the intelligence of the average voter and the average voter’s ability to be diligent. Yikes!
