When a member of Congress proposes some sort of pork barrel spending or places an earmark in a bill, that member of Congress is saying, I want to Buy My Reelection.
When reelection time comes around, members of Congress like to go back to their constituents and talk about all the booty (yes, pirate talk meaning valuable stuff taken from others) they have brought back to their districts from Washington. This plunder of the Federal budget has become so common that it’s now part of the unofficial Congressional job description. Voters expect their members of Congress to bring home the goodies and so Congress responds. What these members of Congress are saying to voters is, “I brought back all of this money to Buy My Reelection.”
So, instead of terms like “Earmarks,” and “Pork,” let’s rebrand these expenditures, Buy My Reelection, or BMRs for short. It may not stop members of Congress from putting BMRs into the budget, but at least the voters will be reminded of how they are being taken in.
Please, spread the word. Make BMRs viral!

Political bribes, extortion, corruption, etc. Name a similar term used for the rest of the public….it would likely fit.
