Today I am writing to ask you, reader, for some assistance gathering the facts for a story that I may have a “Scoop,” on; meaning that this single handed blogger has beaten the entire multi-billion dollar news gathering industry on an amazing story. And I don’t even have a press pass – to anywhere.
Yesterday I heard a rumor. It seems that the Obama administration is taking a very broad view of the term “Wealth.” Not only will Wealth be a financial term meaning money, or assets, the term will be broadened to include a more real view of wealth based on quality of life. In other words, wealth will now mean Time, and enjoyment of that Time. So when you spend Time with your family, or Time having a beer with a friend, traveling, or just sacking out on the hammock in your back yard, you have “Wealth.”
I can tell by the way some of you are reaching for your mouse button that the impact of what I have written so far has not quite hit you. STAY WITH ME! This is going to be Great!
When the President talks about spreading the Wealth around, he doesn’t just mean taking money from the people that sacrificed parts of their lives to get an education and to work long hours, and give that money to people that didn’t make sacrifices. Now, the President means that he is going to take Time from people that didn’t sacrifice Time and give it to those of us that did!
This is going to be so cool!
The three years I spent earning a Master’s degree in night school, right after getting married and including my son’s entire first year, is all Time that I am going to get back. Readers Bill and Uncle Lee, that Time you spent in law school and all those hours you worked to launch your career, all of that is coming back to you through the Obama plan. The Time you could have spent with your family or playing golf but instead spent working, you’re now going to get that Time back. Beth, Margaret, those Master’s degrees you earned? You’re getting your Time back. Rob, all that Time you spend away from home and working late? Believe it or not, you’re going to get that Time back.
So that’s my scoop folks. Right now it’s only a rumor. My readers know that I like to provide links to my sources. I haven’t been able to confirm this story yet which is why you will not find a single link in this story. But it may be my first scoop! Help me find out how the President plans to spread the Time around.

So if “time” is going to be the new rich, then all the unemployed must be rejoicing…
Will there be a tax on “time?” Just curious.
Does the “time” I spent at the 4/15 tea party, with 20,000 of my new BFFs, count as “quality time” spent with others x 20k?? I would love to know, because I couldn’t convince even one of my friends to come with me, even though they all flock to my cocktail parties.
I eventually attended the tea party alone, and met countless new friends, who believe in fiscal accountability and personal responsibility. It was the first time that – other than voting – I truly felt that my voice was heard. Freedom of speech is our right, and cannot be taken away. I honored my ancestors, who were colonists and patriots in the first American Revolution. In fact, one was a 16-year old private fighting in that war.
So I simply refuse to believe that “time = wealth” is what he, and everyone else who followed, fought for. I always thought the fight was against tyranny and for our personal freedom, and for the right – NOT the guarantee – for success. Silly me: I didn’t realize that the Constitution was in the shredder.
Did Obama say he wanted to spread the wealth around? I think you’re quoting John McCain there. At least find a newer straw man.
