You have to give Obama credit …

Reader (and expert poker player) Bill points out that  I have to give President Obama credit for keeping the U.S. out of the U.N. racism conference, round 2 of anti-Israel, anti-Jewish festival held in Durban in 2001.  On Saturday I wrote that I hoped President Obama would keep the U.S. out of the conference, and that while some felt that by staying away he was bowing to pressure from Jewish groups,  I think that our President is showing the moral leadership, intelligence, and wisdom so many voters saw in him.

President Obama stood his ground.  The conference is underway but without U.S. sanction.  As the Wall Street Journal reports, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad kicked off the conference with a typical piece of  hate speech only to be jeered by European diplomats as they walked out on the speech.

Hatred had a bad day.  President Obama had a good one.

What’s amazing is how surprised and upset everyone seems to be about the speech. It’s as though the guy hasn’t said it all before, and often.
