Like Bush Derangement syndrome, Obama the Messiah, and of course Obama Derangement syndrome, mass hysteria over Sarah Palin is again sweeping across the nation like waves from the rising seas of global warming.

Can Obama really listen to Republicans? Can Republicans really talk rationally, thoughtfully, and avoid the temptation to attack?

Caller was dangerously ignorant

February 5, 2010

I listened yesterday to a caller to a talk radio show explain her concern that President Obama and Congressional Democrats were going to manipulate things to make Obama president for life. The talk show host explained to the woman that this was not very likely because such a change required amending the Constitution and that required more than just the President and the Congressional Democrats.

The caller was unconvinced because she clearly did not understand this fundamental of American government.

Slow learner Obama is right

February 4, 2010

The President was right. You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices.

Pelosi and the powerful political class

February 3, 2010

Were this a public company the stockholders would have the option and obligation to provide or not provide this level of luxury to their employees. As this has occurred at a government organization, We the People have the right and obligation to decide whether or not to provide this level of luxury to public servants. It is my contention that We the People have better things to do with our money than to provide these luxuries.

Party on Madam Speaker!

February 2, 2010

Of course it was perfectly legal for the Speaker of the House of Representatives to use an Air Force jet and charge up hefty bar bills to taxpayers. That’s my point! Just because it is ‘legal’ and the other guys did it does not make it right. It is not only wrong to shaft the taxpayers with the politician’s bar bills, but this whole thing points to the sickness that has taken over our government and the way We the People look at our government.

My income tax season has begun. Fair Tax hearing needed!!

February 1, 2010

So opponents of simplifying our tax system, please explain to me how this gigantic cluster we call a tax code is fair to all those people that didn’t have my educational opportunities, perhaps can’t afford tax software or professional tax help, and have a more complex return than I do? The guy that hangs dry wall on the side, the immigrant landscaper, the tailor, etc.

I don’t know whether the Fair Tax is the best solution to the tax mess that we have today. What I do know is that in light of the worsening economic situation and failed economic stimulus we need something to stimulate business growth and hiring. The Fair Tax may be the answer. It may not be the answer. The problem is, I really don’t know because the Fair Tax has never received a fair hearing in Congress, nor does it receive anything close to a fair hearing in the media.

Reagan had terrorist tried in civilian courts

January 31, 2010

We can put terrorists on trial today, here in the U.S. if we think these things through. If the White House had given the trial of Sheikh Mohammed the proper thought, the arguments that led to his rethinking the strategy would not have occurred.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and bungled decisions

January 29, 2010

The Khalid Sheikh Mohammed trial was just one more example of this administration’s failure to think decisions through to understand their full impact. It is a failure of a president that has insulated himself with yes men and supporters, and thus fails to anticipate his opposition and fails to see the downside of his actions. Sounds a lot like Bush, doesn’t it?
