iHeartMedia presents an exclusive iHeartRadio reputation Album Release Partywith Taylor Swift Presented by AT&T, in celebration of her new album, reputation, due out November 10 via Big Machine. The longstanding on-again, off-again feud between the pair might just be fully reignited after this missive.
Swift values friendships (squad anyone?) so she when she sings "but I'm not the only friend you've lost lately/if only you weren't so shady", she could be hitting West with this personal critique. This is a reference to her heavily Instagrammed 4th of July party last year, America's Hiddleswift moment, which was conspicuously not repeated this year. Turns out, Look What You Made Me Do was a red herring, and West barely makes an appearance in the album's lyrics, save for one other song in which Swift laughing at the rapper as she dances on his grave.
This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things may be an enjoyable slice of pettiness, but the album's crown jewel of gossip is Getaway Car, which sees Swift in full storyteller mode as she chronicles using one doomed relationship to escape another.
'We're gonna play it a little bit differently than you heard it on the album. So it's pretty much safe to say that this might have been the peak "nice things" that she refers to in the song. "It was so nice being friends again / There I was, giving you a second chance / But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand", she sings.
Knowing how Yeezy gets down, whenever he decides to finish up some tunes, this situation will surely get some manner of response.
Here, we've rounded up six sneaky references T.Swift could be making to Kanye with the song below.
Fans of Taylor Swift are, needless to say, obsessed with decoding her clues and references in every album she releases.
It doesn't take a detective to decipher that Swift is referring to the infamous phone call over the lyrics to his song "Famous", which involved Kim Kardashian West leaking an conversation between the Grammy victor and her husband last summer. It's doubly interesting when you consider that Kanye has a 2016 song called "Real Friends", where he laments how hard it is to have true friends amid life changes and fame.
Swift is definitely feeling herself and all the love that's come from her new creation.
