A leaky Patriots defense put the offense in a hole, letting the Jets pull out to a 14-0 lead before the first quarter came to an end. Josh McCown completed 23 of 30 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns against an interception.

Tom Brady has a habit of winning when it counts, as the New England Patriots quarterback has five Super Bowl titles in his career. In the end, the Patriots and Jets were each whistled for six enforced penalties, but only two of New England's fouls resulted in first downs for the enemy (versus four such penalties from the Jets). And the Jets are hanging right with the Patriots. As a result, a touchback was called and the Patriots were given the ball back on the 25-yard line.

Last week, Brady's Pats managed to survive a scare as Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a shot at the end zone to win the game in the final seconds. "But we won. So probably a lot to learn from it". Jets tight endAustin Seferian-Jenkins caught a 9-yard pass that was originally called a touchdown.

The game swung in the second quarter.

In their two minute drill before half, the Patriots drive stalled and Stephen Gostkowski missed his 47-yard field goal attempt. Perhaps worse for his longer-term prospects for playing time, though, might've been the job Dion Lewis did both before and after Gillislee was apparently benched.

Having deferred on the opening coin toss, the Patriots were set up to receive the football to open the second half. He's now the sixth quarterback to hang 300 yards on New England this year. Two plays later, Brady hit Gronkowski for a 2-yard touchdown to send the game to halftime tied at 14-14. Brady connected with Gronkowski again, this time a 33-yard touchdown.

New England added a field goal at the beginning of the fourth quarter to make it 24-14.
