Dilip Kumar's health not good; will need dialysis: Doctor

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, 94, who is being treated at a hospital here for kidney problems, is not doing good and may need dialysis, a doctor said August 4.

Earlier, Kumars wife Saira Banu had said, "We (all) should pray he recovers soon".

Reports emerged on Thursday that Kumar is suffering from a kidney ailment. The yesteryear superstar Dilip Kumar had been admitted to the Lilavati hospital on April 15, 2016 after he suffered high fever. The 94-year-old legendary actor was admitted to the private hospital following dehydration and urinary tract infection. He had stated, "His kidney functions are yet to normalize".


Veteran actor Dilip Kumar's condition is reportedly stable now. "He will need a dialysis", Parkar was quoted as saying. "Based on his recovery we will shift him back to the normal ward", added the doctor.

The source summed it up to TOI as, "However, we are hoping the organ regains its functionality". Speaking to The Times of India, Dr Ajaykumar Pandey, the Vice-President of Lilavati Hospital, said that his condition was closely being monitored before he undergoes dialysis. In 2016, he was hospitalised twice. Dilip Kumar married to Saira in 1966.in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award, in 2015. Dilip Kumar's last film was Qila in 1998. Some of his popular movies include "Devdas", "Mughal-E-Azam" and "Karma".
