Barcelona suing Neymar for $10m signing bonus

Barca also stated that should Neymar not be able to pay, PSG will be expected to front the cost.

"FC Barcelona have sent a claim to be made against Neymar for breach of contract to the RFEF for it to be passed on to the French Football Federation [FFF] and FIFA", the statement read. The club also claims that PSG subsidise the amounts in the event that the player can not take responsibility.

The Catalans are asking for an additional 10% payment due to a delay in their demands being met, after presenting Neymar with them on August 11.

"It is noteworthy that this news was received with surprise, since the athlete completely fulfilled the contract then in force, with the full deposit of the amounts set out in the buy-out clause freely agreed with FC Barcelona for his release", Neymar's representatives said in a statement.

Speculation regarding Neymar's future began early in the summer but it seemed as if the 25-year-old would be staying at the Nou Camp after Barcelona defender Gerard Pique posted a photo of the pair together, indicating that he would stay in Spain.

Barcelona's claim comes just days after Neymar blasted the club's board. But with them [the board], no. I spent four attractive years there and I parted happy. I spent four very happy years there and left happy, but not with them. But not with them.

Barca attempted to dig in their heels to prevent one of their star men from departing, while La Liga chief Javier Tebas also stepped in at the time, but they proved powerless as Neymar became the world's most expensive player.

But it appears to be all in good fun, as Neymar later posted a shot of him alongside Suarez, Messi, Pique, Ivan Rakatic, Douglas and former Barca full-back and currentPSG team-mate Dani Alves with the caption "Amigos".
