The New York Police Department has responded to an active shooter situation inside a Bronx hospital where at least two people have been shot.
Dr Bello was listed on the hospital's website as a family medicine physician.
On Twitter, the New York Police Department told members of the public to avoid the area around the hospital, located in the borough of the Bronx at 1650 Grand Concourse. Some of the victims are doctors. Reports say he killed himself. Police found his body on the 17th floor.
According to ABC7NY, gunfire was reported at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center around 3 p.m. local time.
Police response remains heavy and cautious as authorities make sure he was a lone actor. At one point, several cops with their weapons drawn were seen on the roof of the hospital.
Some reports also speak of a fire in the building. NYPD officials were expected to hold a news conference Friday evening.
Chopper 4 over the scene shows a sea of NYPD vehicles gridlocking the streets around the hospital.
It is not clear when he left the hospital.
The 120-year-old hospital claims almost 1,000 beds spread across multiple units.
