Derrick Rose considering return to Chicago, Bulls reunion

Major injuries to the knees have ended the careers of numerous National Basketball Association players in the past.

Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook won this year's MVP award last month.

There will surely be strong interest in Irving, one of the league's premier point guards.

Despite the fatal injury, Rose recovered better than most.

Meanwhile, USA Today's Sam Amick broke the news of a potential return to Chicago.

But if the team does decide to sign Rose, it will still be pricey. "Cavs, Lakers, reported, but talks w/his agent, BJ Armstrong, & Bulls too". Williams played for the Memphis Grizzlies last season, and he was a free-agent this summer. The Cavaliers are the defending Eastern Conference champions.

Signing Derrick Rose would certainly add a consistent scoring threat and playmaker to Cleveland's bench.

As the Knicks prepared to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, Jan. 9, Rose was unexpectedly absent. Both played for coach Jeff Hornacek when he was with Phoenix. With that said, LeBron and Rose on the court together would be an odd pairing.

As for Clark, he could help the Lakers' outside shooting after averaging a career-high 6.8 points while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from 3-point range last season with Golden State. Magic Johnson has reiterated that the team is prioritizing signing a veteran point guard to back up and mentor Lonzo Ball.

The Knicks probably will need to get a point guard through a trade. A Kyrie-Rose backcourt is also intriguing for super small ball lineups, which I guess can work against certain matchups. After seeing his market fail to develop, there's no doubt that the Knicks would be willing to pay him what he's been offered. If he managed to stay healthy, Rose would bring a much-needed boost to the Cavs' second unit. He'd be guaranteed a starting gig and he's already familiar with the fan base and teammates alike. The move makes sense for Cleveland, even if Rose doesn't address their full needs or really pull them significantly closer to the Warriors.

However, the Cavs would give Rose an opportunity to play for a real contender - something he hasn't been able to do since his NBA MVP season. The Chicago Bulls defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 99-96. It's a homecoming, and it could lead to retiring with the same team he came in on. The Lakers have the full $4.3 million room exception and can promise Rose more playing time. Perhaps the biggest issue for this hypothetical pairing, if it comes to fruition, is the fact that Rose is a awful three-point shooter historically. A one-year deal seems inevitable, and it's likely the best option for someone so extremely underrated.
