Venus Williams Was Allegedly Involved In A Deadly Car Crash

Tennis star Venus Williams could be charged with vehicular manslaughter as she is said to have caused a auto accident that wound up killing a 78-year-old man. Palm Beach Gardens police said the crash is under investigation. Barson's wife also suffered broken bones among her injuries.

"According to TMZ, the police report states that "[Venus] is at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver]".

"Many vehicular manslaughter cases involve allegations that the drivers was intoxicated".

The driver's husband, Jerome Barson, was hospitalized with head trauma and never recovered, TMZ reported.

Tennis hero Venus Williams has been blamed for a fatal auto crash that claimed the life of an elderly man in Florida.


Williams reportedly told police she was trying to get through the intersection but had to slow down because of traffic, leaving her auto exposed. Cops did not believe she'd been distracted by a device or under drug or alcohol influence.

He would not say if police were probing Williams or whether the family would be looking for compensation.

Williams has a residence in Palm Beach Gardens, where she also often trains.

Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, is the No. 10 seed at Wimbledon, which gets underway Monday in England. ET has reached out to her reps for comment.
