The Aussie pro golfer didn't tag McIlroy in the tweet, but said the 2011 U.S. Open champ must be bored playing golf without Tiger Woods in the field and lacked motivation.

So yeah, McIlroy has made more than Elkington stated and has a lot more achievements than Elkington has made over his career and he's still only 28 years old.

Sure, a screenshot of your Wikipedia page is a little cheesy; then again, when your page has as many accomplishments as McIlroy's, you can do whatever you damn please.

Reuters picERIN, June 17 ― Rory McIlroy and Steve Elkington engaged in a social media spat after the Australian took a potshot at the world number two who missed the cut at the US Open yesterday.

"That's why jack designed 100's of golf courses...and it's knew...mustn't have taught grammar in the 50's", McIlroy replied.

"I missed the cut, but I'm optimistic going forward".

The plan now is for McIlroy to play three tournaments in four weeks to keep himself sharp going into the Open Championship next month. I know I'm doing the right thing.

The top 18 players on the halfway leaderboard were all looking to make a breakthrough into the big time, with English duo Paul Casey and Tommy Fleetwood sharing the 36-hole lead alongside Americans Brooks Koepka and Brian Harman on seven under par.

Steve Elkington is best-known for being a longtime golfer on the PGA Tour and winning the 1995 PGA Championship.
