Acting President lauds gov. Ayade's industrial drive

ACTING President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has described the Cross River State industrial hub as one of the best in Africa, saying that it would enhance economic development in the country.

Prof. Osinbajo further explained that "the Federal Government is certainly interested in Cross River, the President himself re-negotiated the China-EXIM loan for the Lagos-Calabar rail line and in the 2017 budget have provided for the Udokpani/Ikot Ekpene road". We are greater together than apart. "Unity is absolutely important because God wants us to be united", Osinbajo said.

On arrival at the airport, Acting President Osinbajo had inspected the guard of honour mounted by troops of the Army, Navy and Air Force before proceeding to the Palace of the Obong of Calabar for a brief interaction.

Osinbajo, while in the state is expected to commission some projects embarked upon by Ayade.

Speaking on the relationship between soldiers and some residents of Bakassi, Prof.Osinbajo assured that the Federal Government "will also thoroughly investigate the issues raised on the relationship between the military, the militants and the people of Bakassi", with a view to find a lasting solution to the problem.

He called on Nigerian Leaders to always prioritize the welfare of the people irrespective of their political affiliations.

"Our vision for Cross River State is to make it a destination for investments in Africa", said Governor Prof.

"The project will drive the state's economy and Nigeria in general will benefit because the route will link other states of the federation,".

The Federal Government has pledged full support for the proposed Cross River 275km Super Highway and the Bakassi Deep Seaport.

The Obong advocated the involvement of traditional institutions in the governance of the country due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
