Lavrov is scheduled to meet with US State Secretary Rex Tillerson on Wednesday.

US-Russian relations have been strained over Russian support for the Syrian regime, and Tillerson said the US is looking to stabilize broader US-Russian relations by both addressing minor irritants and finding areas of cooperation.
On Syria, where Russian Federation has backed President Bashar Assad's forces and the US has supported anti-Assad rebels, the talks appeared to indicate a slight narrowing of differences.
At a Senate hearing Monday, former acting Attorney General Sally Yates said she warned Trump's White House in January that Flynn "essentially could be blackmailed" by the Russians because he apparently had lied to his bosses about his contacts with Kislyak.
Mr Trump has said he has no ties to Russia and is not aware of any involvement by his aides in any Russian election interference.
But his hopes for a possible rapprochement with Moscow, so regularly repeated during the campaign, have been derailed.
"The previous administration bent over backwards to undermine the solid foundation of our relations", Lavrov told reporters at the Russian Embassy after meeting Trump.
Relations deteriorated between the United States and Russia after US air strikes against a Syrian airfield in response to a chemical weapons attack that Washington blamed on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a Russian ally. The continued fighting between rebels and Assad's military has complicated US efforts to defeat IS.
For the first time in years, Mr. Lavrov is coming to Washington.
