Allegedly, this song is about Taylor Swift, with whom Styles had a brief, highly publicized relationship (colloquially known as #Haylor) nearly five years ago. In a May 12, 2017 interview with BBC 1 Radio's The Breakfast Show with host Nick "Grimmie" Grimshaw, Styles was asked if the song was indeed about Swift, and Styles clearly wasn't prepared to answer.
"Two Ghosts" appears on Styles' debut solo album, Harry Styles, which dropped Friday.
The former One Direction star made an unannounced appearance at the preview screening and was greeted by cries of "we love you Harry" and "you're amazing". As you might imagine, One Direction fans have been eagerly anticipating Styles new record, and he has plenty of celebrity endorsement, including from his pal Ed Sheeran.
Harry admitted: "The person who it's about found out because their dad was watching the Today show and left a voicemail saying "I think he wrote a song about you".
The lyrics - "same lips red, same eyes blue, same white shirt, couple more tattoos, but it's not you and it's not me" - were analyzed by Styles' biggest fans, but he didn't directly address the speculation. It's also rumored that "Out of the Woods" is about her ex.
So, let's say this theory is correct, and "Two Ghosts" is about Taylor Swift.
"We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me".
In an interview with Radio 1, the 22-year-old just about melted out of his seat with embarrassment when the questions about that song started in. I'm doing you a favor here.
The cover of Harry Styles' self-titled debut solo album. What I'd say is, I'd never done one before in my life, it felt like the time.
As reported by the Telegraph, Styles has announced a 30-date world tour which begins at San Francisco's Masonic Center on September 19.
"We write from personal experience, and I think everyone does, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like, 'Oh you can't write about us.' And she's really good, so they're good songs".
