The video shows East Carolina Pirates football coach Scottie Montgomery bringing college football scholarship papers straight to walk-on Kiante Anderson's mother. And since Kiante is always talking about how much he loves his mother, and how much he respects the sacrifices she has made for him, coach Montgomery chose to deliver the scholarship papers to her as a Mother's Day present. But instead of telling the walk-on defensive end - a Greenville, S.C., native who transferred to ECU from St. Augustine's University in 2015 - he told Anderson's mother, Tia. So he went to South Greenville Elementary School, where Kiante's mom works, and surprised her.
"Thank you", she sobbed as she embraced Montgomery in a hug.
"I was just praying about that last night", Chapman told Montgomery in response to the news.
Montgomery then had Chapman call her son to deliver the news to him herself.
Talk about a Mother's Day gift. We need that at this moment.
Proof that hard work and dedication beat any gift basket Anderson could have ever put together.
