Hoffenheim hand Bayern second league defeat of the season

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski celebrates after scoring against Augsburg

Bayern in top gear ahead of decisive April

Bayern Munich had their 20-match unbeaten run in all competitions ended at Hoffenheim yesterday morning (Singapore time) as Andrej Kramaric's victor sealed the hosts' shock 1-0 victory.

Bayern, who have 65 points from 27 games, are still 13 clear of second-placed RB Leipzig, who visit Mainz 05 on Wednesday.

Coman then poked wide under pressure from the Hoffenheim goalkeeper as Bayern began to assert their authority, although Kramaric blazed over when presented with a rare opportunity to double both his and Hoffenheim's tally.

Julian Nagelsmann's men staged a faultless performance against the German giants and dictated the pace in the first half. We did a much better job in the second half, we were more aggressive then. "The win is unbelievable", Hoffenheim backer Dietmar Hopp said after his side's first ever victory over Bayern at the 18th attempt.

The Bundesliga leaders threw everything forward in the closing stages of the second half, but the host managed to hold on for an impressive three points.

And it was the Baumann show after the break as he denied Lewandowski twice with match-winning saves, while Franck Ribery also went close as Bayern tried in vain for an equaliser.

With Neuer sidelined after foot surgery, Bayern's stand-in goalkeeper Sven Ulreich will face a Hoffenheim attack led by Sandro Wagner, who will play despite dislocating a finger in Friday's 3-1 win at Hertha Berlin.

Hamburg keeper Rene Adler got the better of Aubameyang in a one-on-one early before Dortmund counterpart Roman Burki did likewise to Bobby Wood at the other end.

Bremen's remarkable form under new coach Alexander Nouri continued with its sixth win from seven games unbeaten, taking the side - which was previously bottom - to eighth place, six points clear of the relegation zone.
