Report: Apple Watch Series 3 late this year; continued two-generation strategy

While the Apple Watch Series 2 addressed some features that some felt were missing in the original, we're still not sure if you could call the Apple Watch the flawless smartwatch.

It is believed that the new Apple Watch Series 3 will keep most of the design attributes of its predecessor, but will come packed with faster, efficient processor and a larger battery.

The Apple Watch Series 3 will launch later in 2017 according to the latest reports, bringing some tempting new features such as cellular support.

Right now, Apple Watch orders are being handled by Quanta Computer and the Apple Watch Series 3 wearable is also expected to be manufactured by the Taiwanese-based manufacturer. The Apple Watch 3 features, however, aren't revealed in the recently leaked data.

Apple Watch is perhaps the best-selling smartwatch ever released.

It has been learned that tech pundit Christopher Rolland has shared that Apple fans can expect the next version of the Apple Watch to have its own SIM card slot and a built-in 4G LTE connectivity.

Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch a new Apple Watch, presumably the Apple Watch Series 3, during the second half of this year.

Shown in the photo is the Apple Watch 2. The article explained that Apple was keen to boost the device's battery life, a problem that has plagued the Apple Watch since it first launched in 2015. The unveiling of the "Apple Watch Series 3" is said to be alongside with the "iPhone 8" in September, this year, according to BGR. The Apple Watch Series 2 already boasts a super-bright, colourful and crisp display, so chances are it won't be tweaked too much.

To prepare for the manufacturing of Apple Watch in the second half, Compal has moved its smart devices manufacturing equipment from its Chinese plants in Nanjing and Kunshan to Chongqing, the report said. If the Digitimes report is accurate, Apple wants to have two models available by keeping the Series 2 on store shelves in addition to the Series 3.
