Ozil and Sanchez are holding out for a huge increase in their salary, according to British media reports, while Wenger has previously said that contract talks are on hold until the end of the season. The Arsenal manager intimated that Chelsea will have a tough fight if they want to buy the Chilean, because his club now have the resources to resist any bid.
Ozil said: "I started strongly but - like the team in general - have not kept up my performance".
Wenger also re-iterated his belief that Sanchez is content at the club, despite the fact his contract runs out in summer 2018.
"It did happen before where we were in a position financially that we had to sell our best players".
Arsenal have lost six of their last nine matches in all competitions going into Sunday's pivotal home Premier League game against Manchester City. I want to play in a team that has aspirations.
So it is hardly a surprise that all and sundry have leaped on the comments of the Arsenal and Chile worldwide star Alexis Sanchez this week, interpreting his comments to mean that he wants to sign for Chelsea, even though our striker said nothing about Antonio Conte or his team and nothing about leaving the Gunners.
With the Gunners struggling in the Premier League this season and potentially missing out on Champions League qualification, despite Sanchez's fine form, the Chile worldwide has been linked with a move away from the club.
He promised clarity on his future "soon" less than two weeks ago, but on Thursday said: "It's a subject that at the moment it is not sorted completely out. I think there is a very, very strong basis, but the team needs to be strengthened, of course". The games are coming thick and fast - our season will be decided by the next two months. My commitment will be exactly the same all the time. "It does not influence my attitude".
"I have not a lot to add".
Arsenal meet hosts Manchester City on Sunday and the visitors' boss Pep Guardiola has called criticism of Wenger "unacceptable".
