"[Twenty] years ago today we lost the greatest rapper of all time The Notorious B.I.G.", Diddy wrote on Twitter.
Sean "Diddy" Combs paid tribute to his late friend and protégé Christopher Wallace, known as the Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls, on the 20th anniversary of his tragic death.
Looking back at his life, death and legacy, fans can remember the thousands of people including Mayor David Dinkins who lined the streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant for Biggie's funeral.
Biggie, whose real name is Christopher George Latore Wallace, was killed in a drive-by shooting in 1997 when his children were just three-years-old and four-months-old. It's been twenty years since his murder and it remains unsolved.
Friends including fellow rapper Little Cease, who was in the vehicle when Biggie was shot, recalls a very amusing man.
The dealer, Moments in Time, said that a family had bought the SUV in which Biggie was killed and did not know of its history until a detective informed them in 2005 that it may be needed for the investigation.
"On this day we're going to reflect on him, because we miss him, 20 years later. I gave them to Puff, because he was the one with the hot hand".
"I say a B.I.G. verse, I'm only biggin up my brother, biggin up my borough, I'm big enough to do it", - Jay Z (What More Can I Say). Bad Boy released Biggie's debut album, Ready to Die, which has since received quadruple platinum status and made multiple best of lists.
"The music he made in the 90's era really inspired me", DJ Lonnie B said.
Faith Evans has sourced material from Wallace's vault to record a new duets album, titled "The King & I".
